Scott E. Hunt, CPA/ABV, Partner
Scott is one of the founding partners of our firm. He consults with business and individual clients in the areas of tax and estate planning. He has a wide range of accounting experience which enables him to provide relevant and timely advice and assistance to business owners with their internal accounting, periodic reporting, forecasting and ultimately the development and implementation of succession plans. His experience in business valuation helps him guide business owners to an understanding of how the decisions they make today impact the value of their business.

Jennifer Hillegeist, CPA, Staff Accountant
Jennifer moved to Humboldt County in 1975 from Southern California. She has worked in public accounting since 1980 and joined our firm in 2006. Jennifer works primarily in tax preparation for individuals and business entities.

Jeff was born and raised in Arcata. He joined the firm in 2014, after returning to Humboldt County to spend more time with his family. He has twenty four years of experience in public accounting, practicing predominately in the fields of business and individual taxation, planning, and attestation services.
In his personal life, Jeff enjoys outdoor activities, home improvement projects, watching sporting events, and catching up with old friends.

Ashliegh Diehl, CPA, EA, Principal
Ashliegh has worked in public accounting since 2006, joined our firm in 2011, and became a partner at our firm in 2020. She also serves as the Director of Tax, a role requiring extensive experience in both individual and entity tax-related services. She is responsible for leading our firm’s tax practice.

Her off-the-job interests include attending concerts, traveling, and hiking.
Tenaya's experience in accounting began when she went to work for a large piano company in Southern California just out of high school; it was there that she discovered her love of numbers and accounting. She has worked in the accounting field most of her professional career. Tenaya moved to Del Norte County in 1987, and worked in the timber industry as an account clerk until the last redwood mill in the county closed. In 2001 Tenaya moved to Humboldt County. She joined our firm in August of 2011.
Her hobbies include scrapbooking; her interests include ballet and wildlife; and she is a waterfowl enthusiast. She and her husband have two dogs, an English Springer Spaniel and an English Cocker Spaniel, the love of their lives.

Jason began working at Hunter, Hunter & Hunt, LLP in January 2014, shortly after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Humboldt State University. He rejoined the team in August of 2014 after spending a summer with his then fiancée in Japan.
Jason enjoys many different outdoor activities, such as but not limited to biking, hiking, camping and fishing. In addition, he is an avid sports fan and enjoys following many of the local sports teams.

Melissa joined Hunter, Hunter & Hunt in October, 1988. Melissa is a bookkeeper for the firm and has 30 years experience in the bookkeeping field. Melissa is a native of Humboldt County. Having lived in Redmond, Washington for 3 years she returned to Humboldt where she accepted employment from Paul & John Hunter (Hunter & Hunter), in July of 1988.
Melissa enjoys family outings, including sporting events, baking, gardening and camping.

A Humboldt County native, Susan graduated from Eureka High School and attended College of the Redwoods and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She began her career as a bookkeeper in public accounting with Hunter, Hunter and Hunt in 2006, after 18 years in the private industry sector. In 2012, Susan completed the requirements to attain Enrolled Agent status with the Internal Revenue Service. She is also a Quickbooks Pro Advisor, proficient in Xero, and has extensive experience with payroll and sales tax issues.
Past President and current Treasurer of Humboldt County Cattlewomen, Susan enjoys participating in their numerous community events.
In her free time, Susan likes to garden, read, and hike with her dogs.
Edward A. Weaver, CPA, Senior Manager
Edward joined the team at Hunter, Hunter and Hunt, LLP in January 2017. Born and raised on the North Coast, he has spent the seven years developing his craft primarily in Sacramento and the Bay Area. In 2013, Edward graduated Highest Honors from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accountancy and, shortly thereafter, began his career in accounting at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP. This opportunity allowed for accelerated learning and exposure to the operations and accounting intricacies of a variety of small and large businesses all over the country.
After an amazing experience at PwC, he returned to Humboldt County to be closer to family and
has since enjoyed providing accounting and assurance services to clients in the greater Humboldt
Bay community.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an Accountancy emphasis from California State University, Sacramento, 2013.
Kristi Skelton, Front Office Manager
Kristi joined Hunter, Hunter & Hunt in January 2018. She thrives in her role as Front Office Manager where she applies her twenty years of management & customer service expertise. She loves living in Humboldt County where she enjoys all of its beauty and charm. Kristi enjoys spending time with her family, especially walking in the redwood forest with her daughter.
Thomas joined Hunter, Hunter & Hunt in February of 2018. Thomas was born and raised in Humboldt County, where he attended Arcata High School and Humboldt State University. In 2016 Thomas graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accountancy. To stay on track to become a CPA, Thomas went back to Humboldt State and got his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in July of 2017. Thomas passed the CPA exam in April of 2018 and became a licensed CPA in July of 2019.
In his spare time outside of work he loves to play and watch all sports.
Hannah Shapiro, Accounting Associate
Hannah joined the Hunter, Hunter & Hunt team in December 2020 as an Accounting Intern, and after graduating at the top of her class from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, she transitioned to a full time role. She earned her Master of Business Administration at Cal Poly Humboldt in May 2022 and is currently working toward obtaining her CPA license.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys cycling the back roads of Humboldt and playing piano.
Alison Bentley, Administrative Assistant
Alison Bentley joined Hunter, Hunter & Hunt in January 2021. Alison is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and first came to Humboldt County in 2003 as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member with the Humboldt County Teen Court program. She returned to Humboldt in 2018 because it is the best place on earth to call home! She enjoys spending her time at the beach, in the forest, and at home with her cats, crafts and books. Alison earned a BA in history from East Carolina University, a MS in library science from the University of Tennessee, and is currently on the waitlist for the Registered Nursing program at College of the Redwoods.
